This Privacy Policy explains what Cheaper Rides ("we", "us") collects, how we use it, and your choices. It applies to the Cheaper Rides rider and driver apps and related services.
1. Information you provide
Account: name, phone number, email, and password.
Rider trips: pickup and drop-off locations, and optional notes (for example what you are wearing, so the driver can find you, or accessibility needs).
Driver onboarding: driver's license details and photo, license plate, vehicle make/model/color, gender, and a photo of your insurance card.
Payments: card details are collected and stored by our payment processor, not by us. We store only a token that lets us charge or pay out. Driver tax identity (including SSN) and bank details are collected directly by our payment processor during payout onboarding; we do not store them.
2. Information collected automatically
Location: precise location to show nearby drivers, navigate, and share live trip progress. Driver apps collect location in the background while on shift so we can dispatch and track active rides. You can control location permissions in your device settings, though the service may not function without them.
Device and usage: device identifiers, app version, and diagnostic/crash data.
3. How we use information
To provide and improve the service: create accounts, match riders with drivers, price and process rides, pay drivers, provide support, keep the platform safe, prevent fraud, and comply with law.
4. How we share information
Between rider and driver as needed for a trip (for example first name, pickup/drop-off, vehicle, and live location).
Service providers such as our payment processor, mapping provider, cloud hosting, background-check vendor, and messaging/notification providers, only as needed to run the service.
Legal and safety when required by law or to protect people or the platform.
We do not sell your personal information.
5. Retention and security
We keep information for as long as your account is active and as needed for legal, tax, and safety purposes, then delete or de-identify it. We use reasonable safeguards, though no system is perfectly secure.
6. Your choices and rights
You can update your profile, control location permissions, and delete your account in-app. Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, or delete your information. Contact us to exercise them.
7. Children
The service is not directed to children under 18, and we do not knowingly collect their information.
